Once, there was a woman and her little girl who lived in a lovely garden full of green cabbages. One day, a small hare hopped into the garden. During the cold winter, the hare ate all the cabbages. Then, the mother said to her daughter, "Please go into the garden and gently chase the hare away.

The girl whispered to the little hare, "Hush, little hare, you will eat all our cabbages." The hare said, "Come, maiden, and sit on my little hare's tail. Come with me to my little hare's hut." The girl did not want to do it.

The next day, the hare came back to the garden. He ate the green cabbages again. Then, the mother told her daughter, "Please go into the garden and chase the hare away." The girl looked at the little hare. She said softly, "Hush now, little hare. You are eating all the cabbages." The little hare spoke gently. "Dear maiden, please sit on my tail. I will take you to my cozy little house." The girl shook her head. She refused to go with him.

The third day, the hare came back again. He ate the cabbages. The mother said to her daughter, "Go into the garden and tell the hare to go away." The girl said softly, "Hush, little hare, you will eat all our food." Then the little hare said, "Come, girl, sit on my tail. I will take you to my little house.

The girl sat down on the little hare’s tail. Then the hare took her far away to his cozy little house. He said, "Now cook green cabbage and millet-seed, and I will invite all our friends for the wedding." Soon, all the guests arrived. Who were they? They were all hares! The crow was there to marry the bride and groom, and the fox was the clerk. The special place for the wedding was right under the beautiful rainbow.

The girl felt very sad, for she was all alone. The little hare came and said, "Open the doors, open the doors! The wedding guests are so happy." The bride said nothing, but she cried. The little hare went away. The little hare came back and said, "Take off the lid, take off the lid! The wedding guests are getting hungry." The bride said nothing, and she cried again. The little hare went away. The little hare came back and said, "Take off the lid, take off the lid! The wedding guests are waiting." Then the bride said nothing, and the hare went away. But she dressed a straw-doll in her clothes, gave her a spoon to stir with, and set her by the pan with the millet-seed. Then she went back to her mother.

The little hare comes back again. He says, "Please take off the lid, please take off the lid." He gets up and gently taps the doll on the head. Her pretty hat falls right off. Then the little hare looks closely. He sees it is not his bride. He feels very sad. He goes away quietly.

"Once, there was a woman and her little girl who lived in a lovely garden full of green cabbages. One day, a small hare hopped into the garden. During the cold winter, the hare ate all the cabbages. Then, the mother said to her daughter, \"Please go into the garden and gently chase the hare away.",
"The girl whispered to the little hare, \"Hush, little hare, you will eat all our cabbages.\" The hare said, \"Come, maiden, and sit on my little hare's tail. Come with me to my little hare's hut.\" The girl did not want to do it.",
"The next day, the hare came back to the garden. He ate the green cabbages again. Then, the mother told her daughter, \"Please go into the garden and chase the hare away.\"\n\nThe girl looked at the little hare. She said softly, \"Hush now, little hare. You are eating all the cabbages.\"\n\nThe little hare spoke gently. \"Dear maiden, please sit on my tail. I will take you to my cozy little house.\"\n\nThe girl shook her head. She refused to go with him.",
"The third day, the hare came back again. He ate the cabbages. The mother said to her daughter, \"Go into the garden and tell the hare to go away.\" The girl said softly, \"Hush, little hare, you will eat all our food.\" Then the little hare said, \"Come, girl, sit on my tail. I will take you to my little house.",
"The girl sat down on the little hare’s tail. Then the hare took her far away to his cozy little house. He said, \"Now cook green cabbage and millet-seed, and I will invite all our friends for the wedding.\" Soon, all the guests arrived. Who were they? They were all hares! The crow was there to marry the bride and groom, and the fox was the clerk. The special place for the wedding was right under the beautiful rainbow.",
"The girl felt very sad, for she was all alone. The little hare came and said, \"Open the doors, open the doors! The wedding guests are so happy.\" The bride said nothing, but she cried. The little hare went away. The little hare came back and said, \"Take off the lid, take off the lid! The wedding guests are getting hungry.\" The bride said nothing, and she cried again. The little hare went away. The little hare came back and said, \"Take off the lid, take off the lid! The wedding guests are waiting.\" Then the bride said nothing, and the hare went away. But she dressed a straw-doll in her clothes, gave her a spoon to stir with, and set her by the pan with the millet-seed. Then she went back to her mother.",
"The little hare comes back again. He says, \"Please take off the lid, please take off the lid.\" He gets up and gently taps the doll on the head. Her pretty hat falls right off. Then the little hare looks closely. He sees it is not his bride. He feels very sad. He goes away quietly."
